Caption: * وسئل أبو عمر عن ولده ذر فقيل له: " كيف كانت عشرته معك؟"، فقال: "ما مشى معي قط في ليل إلا كان أمامي، ولا مشى معي في نهار إلا كان ورائي، ولا ارتقى سقفا كنت تحته". وقد بلغ من بر الفضل بن يحيى بأبيه أنهما كانا في السجن، وكان يحيى لا يتوضأ إلا بماء ساخن، فمنعهما السجان من إدخال الحطب في ليلة باردة، فلما نام يحيى قام الفضل إلى وعاء وملأه ماء، ثم أدناه من المصباح، ولم يزل قائما والوعاء في يده حتى أصبح. وقال جعفر الخلدي: "كان الإمام الأبار من أزهد الناس، استأذن أمه في الرحلة إلى قتيبة، فلم تأذن له، ثم ماتت فخرج إلى خراسان، ثم وصل إلى "بلخ"، وقد مات قتيبة، فكانوا يعزونه على هذا، فقال: هذا ثمرة العلم؛ إني اخترت رضى الوالدة. فعوضه الله علما غزيرا".
