- I’M RELEASING AN ALBUM!!
This is an album I’ve dreamt of making since I was a boy, and it’s no understatement to say it feels like coming all the way back home. Back to the instruments I grew up listening to and a songwriting tradition I deeply admired.
The most beautiful part of creating this album has been getting my old friends to play and sing on it. It sounds silly, but I felt a bit of grief when we finished, like, was that it? No more magic until we make the next one?
Thus, it’s become a nostalgic album full of big feelings, stories of loss, family, and friendship. As always, I dug deep, but I did my best not to make it too heavy, to keep it upbeat without allowing it to be overly lighthearted.
With Good Times I’ve been inspired by the bands I grew up listening to: Gráda, Crockedstill, Beoga, Michael McGoldrick, The Duhks, Caleb Klauder - the list is loooong. I’ve made an album I really love, with songs I can’t wait to perform, I keep thinking, “What will my audience think when they listen to this?”. And that really excites me!
